Shadow Lake Community Planning and Design

A new elementary school, 2 lakes, 120 park acres, 3.2 miles of trails, adjacency to an outdoor shopping center, creative planning, and native landscaping come together to make Shadow Lake a wonderful neighborhood. A housing community in Papillion, Nebraska, Shadow Lake is a centerpiece of residential development. The outstanding natural features of this site and the potential for creating an all-encompassing neighborhood were recognized early in the planning stages by the project team.

Riverfront Redevelopment and Century Link Center Infrastructure

When the City of Omaha was ready to update its image and revitalize its river “front door”, it selected Lamp Rynearson for design and construction administration services for infrastructure improvements. The $281 million Omaha convention center/arena and riverfront redevelopment is now a destination for Omaha’s citizens and its visitors. As a leader and coordinator of the multi-disciplined design team, Lamp Rynearson developed a Master Plan for the 120-acre site and surrounding redevelopment areas.

Omaha South High School Collin Stadium

Omaha South High School had not hosted a varsity football game since 1946. Collin Field, known as “The Hole”, sat in a natural bowl at 23rd and “L” Streets and was used as South High’s track and practice football field. Lamp Rynearson provided engineering design services for a new multi-sport playing field and track stadium to replace the existing one. Goal: Design a full-sized soccer field meeting the requirements of the annual Nebraska State High School Soccer Tournament that could also be used as a varsity football field. The completed facility has had a major impact on Omaha South High School, located in a neighborhood rich in Hispanic culture, while at the same time providing meaningful social, economic and sustainable design benefits.

Nicholas Street Sewer Extension

The Nicholas Street Sewer Extension Phase I project extends three 108” diameter storm sewer pipes and a 24” sanitary pipe through an urbanized industrial corridor in downtown Omaha, Nebraska – helping to serve the northern portion of the Burt-Izard basin that experiences basement backup and street flooding issues. The project, part of the City of Omaha’s Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control program, was selected as ACEC (American Council of Engineering Companies) Nebraska’s Excellence in Engineering 2014 Grand Award Winner, the highest honor extended to a Nebraska engineering firm.

Grace Pointe Continuing Care Community

The design of the facility was done in response to resident, patient, and family preferences to be in an environment that supports client dignity and privacy. Lamp Rynearson prepared civil design plans approved by the City of Greeley and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Work included preparation of the site layout, grading, storm drainage, water, sewer, erosion control, overall utility plans and applicable construction details. Construction staking and construction administration services in accordance with HUD guidelines were provided for this project.

Eppley Airfield

For over 20 years, Lamp Rynearson has led civil engineering projects at Eppley Airfield, a medium hub airport which serves a six-state area. Airport design, traffic engineering, construction administration, GIS, and survey work are produced regularly. Taxiway and runway design, including an 8500-foot commercial service runway, were major undertakings for the Omaha Airport Authority. Lamp Rynearson provided civil engineering leadership for the Protection of Assets team for the 2011 Missouri River “flood fight”.

City of Omaha Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Program

Major cities across the U.S. face an unfunded federal mandate, as does the City of Omaha, to implement a plan for separating combined sewers within the City. The purpose of this mammoth undertaking is to improve water quality and protect rivers, creeks, and streams. As part of the Program Management Team (PMT), Lamp Rynearson serves as Project Coordinator and Compliance Coordinator on several projects and is leading the development of a sustainability program. Lamp Rynearson also serves as Utility Coordinator, and is a major partner on two of the ten CSO basin teams.

Capitol District

Capitol District is a new mixed-use entertainment district being constructed in downtown Omaha. Located adjacent to the Centurylink Center, this project will be the first designated entertainment district in the City of Omaha, providing a vibrant dining and entertainment destination including community activities, concerts, and events year-round.

The development includes a hotel, apartments, retail and office buildings, and a parking garage. At the center of the development is a large central plaza that will host restaurant patios, a stage, fountain, and unique landscape and hardscape amenities.

Lamp Rynearson’s responsibilities on the project included platting, traffic studies, site design, construction administration, and stormwater management, as well as coordination with the City of Omaha, utility companies, and several design professionals.
